My heart goes out to all the folks affected by the Orlando tragedy. I can’t begin to imagine what they are feeling right now. I can’t begin to understand how anyone could intentionally take the life of another person let alone 49 of them. Such a senseless waste of beautiful lives! I hope the families and friends of those lost can eventually find peace.

I feel bad saying that I had a wonderful weekend in light of these events and at the same time we can’t stop living our lives or hate wins. There are so many conversations that need to happen around this tragedy but at its simplest I hope it’s a moment where everyone can take a step back and appreciate what and whom they have.

We are always busy making a living which is important but not nearly as important as making a life. That’s the whole point! So while I feel bad saying I had a wonderful weekend because so many were suffering, I also am grateful for such a lovely birthday weekend. I’m grateful for all the wonderful people that I got to see, talk too, get cards from and be around. They are the people, near and far, that make my life special. I laughed, chatted, hugged, loved and blew out some candles with my little girl in my lap this weekend. I hope we all can take some time today to appreciate what we have because making a life is the most important work we can do.

Thank you to everyone who has sent me birthday wishes this week, I appreciate each and every one of you!  And to my husband who worked so hard to make this weekend special and my parents who entertained a teething one year old all weekend, I love you, thank you for all you do!
